erosion of soft contacts

I want to put soft contacts into different liquid solutions such as coke and mineral water. As for how to measure the erosion, I'm thinking about measuring the diameters and simple observations such as 'whether it developed bumps or if it wasnt flexible any more?' I wonder if thats good enough or do i need actual facts and figures? help?
